How to Use Abhyanga Oil

Abhyanga is the ancient Ayurvedic practice of self-massage. Bringing Abhyanga into your daily self-care routine is an amazing way to slow down and connect to yourself. We created this Abhyanga Oil not only to be used on the body, but also to be a go-to product for hair, face and cleansing. The lightweight oil blend delivers potent nourishment while also sinking directly into skin and hair without leaving slippery residue. This versatile oil can be your all-in-one remedy if you know how to use it! Here are a few of our favorite ways to receive all of the benefits from Abhyanga Oil:
    • Abhyanga: Of course this oil is perfect for daily self-massage. To practice abhyanga at home, start by gently heating the oil in an oil warmer or in a double burner on the stove. Once the oil is warm, begin your massage by starting at the feet and working up the body. Massage in circular motions and moving towards the heart to stimulate circulation, lymphatic drainage, and detoxification. Self-massage is the perfect way to practice self-love.
    • Oil Cleansing: Science has recently been discovering that using oils to cleanse or moisturize can actually lift excess sebum and balance the production of oil in the skin. Oil has been a staple in Ayurvedic treatments for centuries now, so it is amazing to see a resurgence of people embracing oils for self-care. Oil cleansing is an easy way to remove dead skin, pollutants and makeup from the face. To begin, massage 1-2 teaspoons of oil into the face. This massaging will bring fresh blood to the skin and encourage toxins to flow away. After a minute or two, use a warm, damp washcloth to remove any excess oil or impurities. Your skin should feel hydrated and supple. Finish with a moisturizer if needed.
    • Hair Treatment: Kukui Nut Oil is one of our favorites for haircare. Not only is it light enough to not weigh hair down, but it also provides plenty of other benefits such as taming frizz, calming dry scalp, repairing the hair shaft and more! Our Abhyanga blend also contains Argan Oil which increases hair elasticity and delivers potent essential fatty acids. Try using a small pump of oil as a finisher for your hairstyle to tame fly aways or hydrate dry ends. You can also use this Abhyanga Oil as a hair mask. Saturate hair evenly by sections with oil and massage it into the scalp and damaged split-ends. Leave it on for your desired length of time depending on how much nourishment you're in need of. Anywhere from 30 mins to overnight. You can experiment with mixing in some honey for an even more luxurious mask.
    • Face Moisturizer: The combination of Frankincense and Sandalwood Essential Oils create a Yin and Yang like balance to our Abhyanga Oil. Frankincense is light and purifying. It is well known for reducing inflammation and melting away anxieties. It can also be powerful oil for improving skin elasticity and decreasing the appearance of scars. Sandalwood is a deeply healing and nourishing oil. It is extremely calming on both a physical and spiritual level. Sandalwood can gently tone and rejuvenate the appearance of skin. The anti-aging and antiseptic properties of sandalwood make it a go-to for all kinds of skin issues including eczema, wound healing, hyper-pigmentation and more. Apply a pump of Abhyanga Oil to clean, dry skin to lock in moisture and keep your skin glowing throughout the day.
